Can Dentures Be Repaired?

In most cases, dentures can be repaired. However, it is best to show your denture to your dental health professional to ensure that the right decision is made whether to repair your denture or not.

If one or more of the denture teeth chip or break off, new teeth can be added to the prosthesis. If a denture that is constructed from acrylic cracks or breaks in half, we can fix the crack and put the denture back together again. When a clasp or wire breaks off a denture, we can add the clasp to the denture. In this case, an impression of the dentition is needed in order to bend a new wire for the tooth or the cast model is sent to a dental laboratory, along with the denture, to have a new piece laser welded to the area. The repairs to the dentures are done by adding new acrylic to the area(s) and processing the acrylic under pressure so that it cures properly. We do NOT just simply glue the new tooth on or glue the denture back together. Using crazy glue is not recommended because of the danger of ingesting the residue from the glue. So if you are in need of a denture repair, make sure that you contact your denturist today.
